Or as it’s more commonly known, walnut. The warm tones of walnut have proven to be the most popular of all the timbers I use to make the gentleman’s valets.

I usually finish the valets with oil because it doesn’t obscure the close grain. It does however show the rich browns in the walnut beautifully, darker and sometimes a slightly cold colour at first, soon becoming warmer just from exposure to daylight.

Amongst its various options, the Hatstand Valet comes with a black velvet covered hat rest. As good as it looks sometimes you just want to add something just to make it your own.
